Hall Effect Sensors are solid state magnetic sensor devices used as either magnetic switches or to measure magnetic fields.
Latching Hall Effect Sensor
A latching Hall Effect Sensor detects the presence of a magnetic field and provides a switch output. The output transistor will be “latched ON” in the presence of a sufficiently strong South pole magnetic field. The output will be “latched OFF” in the presence of a resetting North pole magnet.
If Power is turned off, it will remain in the ON position (Latching).
Non-Latching (Switching) Hall Effect Sensor
A non-latching (switching) Hall Effect Sensor detects the presence of a magnetic field and provide a switch output. The output transistor will be “Switched ON” in the presence of a sufficiently strong South pole magnetic field facing the marked side of the package that meets or exceeds the operate point (BOP) of the sensor.
If Power is turned off, it will revert to the OFF position
